A new e-commerce business has been launched in Bradford by the NMC galaxy group.

GalaxyXtra.com has just gone live, selling quirky giftware products direct to consumers online and has already begun to receive orders from across the UK.

The launch of the new business follows the recent acquisition of giftware wholesale company Heartwarmers by Yorkshire-based investment business and management consultancy NMC Galaxy.

It is part of the development strategy for the venture, which is now being modernised and expanded by new owner Nasser Malik.

The distribution operation is currently being carried out by existing staff based at the new headquarters in central Bradford, then additional jobs will be created as the demand grows.
Items being sold on the platform include fun gifts like plaques, lap trays, garden signage and dedicated special occasions products.

Chief Executive of NMC Galaxy Ltd, Nasser Malik said: “This is the latest addition to our growing brand portfolio. On acquiring the Heartwarmers business, we pledged to develop it from an under £1million turnover company to a £3 million – £5 million turnover business within the next three years. The new online platform is one of the first major steps in this development and will provide a consumer-facing arm that didn’t previously exist.

“As the GalaxyXtra brand becomes established nationwide we will be able to take on more distribution staff, bringing growth and new jobs to the West Yorkshire area.”

• NMC Galaxy Ltd provides consulting services to consumer-facing corporate businesses and value-added products to enhance their profitability. It also has a separate investment arm and a range of brands targeted directly to consumers, such as richyrewards.com and trafficgalaxy.uk

• Nasser Malik is also Chairman of Malik House Business Centres, which runs business centres in Bradford, Leeds and Blackburn and of Yorkshire Enterprise Network (YEN), one of the county’s biggest business support and networking organisations. The group also owns web design brand MH Virtual, and Property8.com
